Quirky Urban Wedding at the Press Room in Tacoma

when rachel & chris envisioned their tacoma wedding day, they wanted something non-traditional, fun, and full of personality. the press room in tacoma was the perfect venue for them, with its eclectic decor and rich history that meant they didn’t have to bring in a ton of extra decorations. it was truly a blast to photograph their wedding day!

the press room - a unique Tacoma wedding venue

located in tacoma’s historic theatre district, the press room is an absolute gem of a venue if you're looking for a space with major character. originally a printing press facility, it’s now a stunning wedding venue with exposed brick walls, industrial-chic vibes, and just the right touch of vintage elegance. it’s got that effortlessly cool, slightly moody feel that makes every wedding here look straight out of a magazine. they have two separate getting-ready spaces for you and your partner. the press room can host large weddings of up to 350 people standing or 150 people seated.

i love that the press room is also super versatile. whether you’re going for a romantic candlelit dinner vibe or a dance party, the space can match your vision. plus, the location is amazing! you’re surrounded by some of the best portrait spots in tacoma, from urban backdrops to gorgeous pockets of greenery. imagine sneaking away for some dreamy golden hour shots among the city streets before heading back in to celebrate with your loved ones.

p.s. if you’re looking for other venues with fun, urban vibes, you should check out my list here!

downtown tacoma wedding moments

before the ceremony, rachel & chris shared the sweetest first look. after that, we hit the streets for some epic couple portraits, wandering through the theatre district and making a stop at the spanish steps, as they really wanted to get some photos there.

we even found this killer mural that added a fun, urban twist to their photos. between the historic architecture and colorful street art, their wedding photos ended up being the perfect mix of classic and edgy.

quirky and fun wedding vibes

can we talk about rachel & chris’s wedding colors for a sec? they nailed it with a rich, bold palette of burgundy, gold, and green. rachel was an absolute vision in a deep burgundy wedding dress (seriously, obsessed!!), while her bridesmaids rocked stunning gold gowns.

the colorful florals and greenery throughout the decor gave the space a fresh, natural vibe that played beautifully against the urban setting. but they didn’t really have to do a lot with the space, as it already had a lot of fun, vintage decor all around, as well!

special shout out to their wedding coordinator - wild serenity weddings - for helping to make their day happen!

capturing the day without missing the party

if there’s one thing rachel & chris knew, it was that they wanted to actually be at their own party (because duh, what’s the point of a wedding if you don’t get to enjoy it?!). so we got strategic with the timeline—plenty of time for portraits without missing out on their cocktail hour. this is exactly why hiring an experienced seattle wedding photographer makes all the difference.

i know how to work efficiently, and capture all the moments you care about, and make sure you get back to celebrating with your people. i’m all about genuine moments and telling your story exactly how it felt without wasting your time on stiff, awkward posing.

glowing testimonial from the bride

“We absolutely adore our entire wedding album and are so grateful to you for everything. Thank you so much for capturing our day so beautifully.”
